Eileen Gray is an international name of the design. Collaborator in the '20s and '30s of important architects such as Le Corbusier and JJP Oud , design articles and bar stools in several variations. This coffee table is the most famous piece of furniture design by Eileen Gray, who since 1973 has granted the worldwide rights to manufacture and distribute her designs to Aram Designs Limited London . The Museum of Modern Art has added to its permanent design collection in 1978. Adjstable Table has chrome-plated steel tube frame available in black lacquered metal , the top is available in clear or tinted . The table is adjustable and perfect proportions , these features , along with its line seplice , have made it in time a true design icon. It is named after the summer house E 1027 , " Maison en bord de mer" , that Eileen Gray built for herself and for her collaborator , Jean Badovici . The secret code name also derives from her: E is for Eileen , 10 for Jean ( J is the tenth letter of the alphabet) , 2 for B ( adovici ) and 7 for G (ray) .
