Through her works, Charlotte Perriand promoted a profound renewal of aesthetic values.
“The object is not neutral. It has a relationship with man and this has to be taken into account.”
Charlotte Perriand was able to animate objects, thanks to her extraordinary intuition and to a careful experimentation with materials such as bamboo and tubular steel. The collaboration with Le Corbusier and Pierre Jeanneret and her experience in Japan represent two fundamental moments in her life. Perriand revisited the Japanese tradition in her later works, with a spontaneous spirit of multicultural integration. She died in 1999.
