Michel Ducaroy
Michel Ducaroy was a well-known French designer, famous for his long collaboration with the furniture brand Ligne Roset. During the 1960s and 1970s, he became particularly interested in new materials like foams, padding and thermoformed plastics. Thus, in 1973, Ligne Roset's Togo sofa was brought to life: a "cushion-seat" that is now an icon of contemporary design for its soft, organic shapes and its ability to blend seamlessly into any space and décor.
His collaboration with Ligne Roset was instrumental in the company's success.

Michel Ducaroy's legendary Togo sofa is still a much loved, sought-after piece of design furniture all over the world.
Born in 1925, Michel Ducaroy grew up in a family of furniture designers and manufacturers. He then studied at the École Nationale des Beaux Arts in Lyon. In addition to designing highly successful furniture for Ligne Roset, he was also in charge of research, development and design. His experimentation with materials resulted in unique creations, including a variety of distinctive upholstered models like Adria, Koufra, Kashima, Safi and Kali. The designer passed away in 2009.
