Autonomy, concentration, willpower: children will need them more than ever this year, when they return to school and university, which can be in presence but also virtual. An important test to face for which it is right to make the space reserved for the study adequate, where they will find themselves in front of books or at the computer, most of the time alone, to build their future. What can be done, in terms of space management, to support the autonomy, concentration and willpower we referred to at the beginning? By choosing the furniture with a new awareness and in particular the main element: the desk. Which must be large enough to contain the computer for remote lessons, books and notebooks. It must be well designed and made with quality materials, but also congenial to a young user who must feel comfortable and at ease. This is good design, of which we give you some examples below, design that blends aesthetics and functionality to find the right solution and transform a particular situation, such as going back to school this year, into a precious opportunity to increase the autonomy and resourcefulness of students.

Seaside office table  by Oliver Furniture

Seaside office table by Oliver Furniture

Classic and essential, but studied in detail, the desk from the Seaside line by Oliver Furniture is complete but with a small size. Among the interesting details there is certainly the shoulder that goes all around and does not drop pens, pencils and other objects and the five drawers, always useful for keeping everything close at hand, keeping the top tidy and uncluttered.

CPH 190  by Hay

CPH 190 by Hay

From the classic style to the quintessential Scandinavian style of Hay's CPH190 desk. Also in this case, the size is minimal, but the structure is also essential, designed for bedrooms already equipped with drawers and bookcases in which to store everything. It has an adult design and can accompany the user well beyond the studies.

Team7   Desk

Desk by Team7

The Team7 beech wood desk supports the growth of the kids, featuring a mechanism that allows you to increase or decrease the height of the top. Inspired by technical drawing tables, it features a central top portion that can be raised to draw and a thin but deep drawer.

Champion Front Up  by Moll

Champion Front Up by Moll

The Champion desk by Moll can also be adjusted in height and seamlessly. In addition, it has a cable duct, very useful for the computer, and the possibility of lifting a portion of the surface to draw and read. It is available in a wide range of colors to adapt to the furniture already present in the bedroom.

Paper Desk   Studio Job for Moooi

Paper Desk by Moooi

Paper Desk is an interesting compromise between the functionality we are looking for in a desk and the irony of Studio Job, which signs the project for Moooi. It is the right desk for those who love contemporary design and want to promote creativity and the ability to think “outside the box”, just think that the desk is finished in lacquered paper.

Linea di  Daniele Lago per Lago

Desk and bookcase share the same profile: a 30mm line that recalls the stroke of a pencil on the sheet. Essential and functional, no frills but modular according to the dimensions and containment needs. In addition, it is available in 32 Lago colors, also to be combined.

String® system

String® system

We conclude with a system that has made school: String®, the Swedish shelving module whose history is quite particular. In fact, it was born in 1949: the Bonnier public library had realized that in Swedish homes there was no space dedicated to books and for this reason reading was not very common. They therefore decided to launch a competition to design a home bookcase that was inexpensive, easy to distribute and assemble. String® won and has since become a Scandinavian design classic and functional furniture model. There are many elements that can be inserted into the supporting structure, including the desk top, to be mounted at different heights depending on the age of the student. It is perfect, as in the cover image, even for spaces shared by different ages.
