From the bold graphics of Henzel Studio and Moooi to the floral motifs of Nanimarquina, passing through the refined textures of cc-tapis: the 2020 carpets are an explosion of creativity that tells the story of all the research of the companies and the experimentation of the designers. There is no dominant trend: very different from each other, these rugs call into question every trend, because today what we want is personalization, while we are fleeing the standard. And here the carpet becomes a manifesto of our personality, a work of art to be put on the floor but always making itself noticed. It is no longer a simple accessory, its function and its choice are more refined: from the design to the processing techniques, to the materials, the carpet is preparing to be the main actor on the scene of our interiors.

Nanimarquina

Silhouette by Nanimarquina

The Spanish company presents 4 new collections for 2020, each with its own style, but all united by the red thread of elegant creativity, bright but discreet colors. Telares: is the result of research by the creative team within the company, on the potential of weaving: the result is a different kilim from what we are used to because it does not have a geometric and regular texture but on the contrary irregular and soft, almost random motifs. Flora (on the cover): designed by Santi Moix, an artist based in New York who has reinterpreted the classic floral motif in a contemporary key, with large and colorful corollas. Flora harmoniously combines with Colors, the line designed by Nani Marquina in plain colors, in bright colors inspired by nature. Finally, Silhouette  is the collection designed by Jaime Hayon  adapted today also for outdoor spaces.

Henzel Studio

Henzel Studio new carpets

Patrick Church is the British artist of the moment, his works are in the collections of Madonna, Kendall Jenner, Katy Perry and are a mix of glamour and provocation. Henzel, a Swedish company devoted to the artistic carpet, has transformed them into a carpet and the result is over the top and very interesting. The figures represented are fashionable and suffering at the same time, as if to represent the two inseparable aspects of celebrity.

cc-tapis

 Lines by cc-tapis

The new project by CC Tapis is called Gesture: 5 new collections signed by as many designers. Patricia Urquiola, Philippe Malouin, Sabine Marcelis, Mae Engelgeer and Yuri Himuro were invited to create a new line of rugs starting precisely from the concept of "gesture", intended as the movement of the hands that gives rise to the creative act. And the creative process of this project has taken on very particular characteristics: in full lockdown due to the pandemic from COVID 19, the designers worked independently but as in a collective they shared with the company and the other members of the group, moments of their design. From research on materials to the study of color combinations: the creative act quickly and exposed, shared, to give a new and profound sense to this extreme experience of isolation that we have all lived. Moooi Carpets

Space Escape by Moooi

Folds by Moooi

The imaginative and surreal trait of Elena Salmistraro gave birth to the Space Escape collection, an escape from space as we know it in favor of a more fluid, perhaps chaotic and involving concept. The collection is presented in three variants: Draconian, Plejaren & Reptilian. Folds collection is the collection designed by the Dutch artist Celia Hadeler, through extreme use of the trompe l'oeil Hadeler has created a collection of rugs that simulate the presence of folds, in an effect that creates amazement. Finally, the Rens studio, founded by Renee Mennen and Stefanie van Keijsteren created the Blended collection for Moooi Carpets, which plays with the overlapping of colors and geometries, in four versatile and interesting chromatic variables.
