Taking a unique place in Danish design history, Hoptimist began life in the late 1960s with the first prototype smileys emerging from the workshop of Hans Gustav Ehrenreich. A simple circle and ellipse were the basis for the brand’s colourful spring-shaped characters with Birdie, Bimble and Bumble the start of an ever-expanding collection. Since then the Hoptimist’s iconic designs have spread a sense of positivity with its design importance acknowledged in modern art museums worldwide.
