Arne Jacobsen

Architect and designer Arne Jacobsen (1902โ€“1971) is a master of Scandinavian design, a figure who left a mark with his distinctive and personal style. His masterpieces and great design classics bear witness of his unquestionable talent: the Ant chair, Series 7, Grand Prix, Swan and Egg Chair, all produced by Fritz Hansen. Besides the production of furniture, among his major works we remember the AJ lamps for Louis Poulsen and the Cylinda Line of table accessories for Stelton.

His work was influenced by Le Corbusier, Gunnar Asplund and Mies Van der Rohe.

โ€œ...Jacobsen was one of the first to reinterpret Modernism in the Danish project, expanding the concepts of form and function.โ€ - Domus
Born and raised in Copenhagen, Arne Jacobsen graduated in architecture from the Royal Danish Academy of Fine Arts, Copenhagen, in 1927. Later he began his career working in Paul Holsรธeโ€™s architecture firm, and then opened his own studio in Hellerup, where he worked as an architect and designer. From architecture to furniture, all his pieces are an expression of modernist design and of a clear and soft functionalism.
