Husband and wife, joined not only by design, but also by love, the architect and designer Charles Eames and the painter and artist Bernice Alexandra Kaiser, called Ray, have left an indelible mark in history with true masterpieces of modern design. Charles and Ray Eames, united by an extraordinary sense of adventure, gave rise to authentic and timeless design pieces.
Charles, born in 1907, and Ray, born in 1912, met at the Cranbrook Academy of Art in Michigan. Their exclusive synergy brought to life beautifully simple, playful, modern and functional design furniture and objects, defined by a completely innovative style. Together they started designing moulded plywood furniture products, and became successful after the production of their creations by Herman Miller, Inc. for the American market and by Vitra for the European one.
