Born in 1957, Jan Pauwels studied product design in Antwerp, Belgium. He started his career working as a product designer and marketer, founding his own Random.be design studio in Antwerp right after, where he deals with lighting. In 1998 he designed his first lamps for Quasar, a collection of pieces that turned out to be the beginning of a long and successful collaboration.
