Paola Navone was born in 1950 and in 1973 graduated in architecture at Turin's polytechic. Outspoken, eclectic and a true world traveler, she was strongly influenced by the Eastern tradition.
She collaborated with Alessandro Mendini, Ettore Sottsass Jr. and Andrea Branzi in the Alchemy group and went on to become an icon of Italian design. In Osaka in 1983 she was awarded the prestigious International Design Award, in Paris in 1999 she won the Prix d'Excellence Marie Claire Maison and in 2000 she was named Designer of the Year by the German magazine Architektur & Wohnen. In 1988 she founded Cappellini World, along with Giulio Cappellini, and since 1998 she has been artistic director for Gervasoni, addressing firsthand the design of most of the collections.
Architect, designer and art director, she has been working for the most important design brands such as Knoll International, Alessi, Driade, Molteni, Natuzzi, Lando, Kasthall, Opinion Ciatti, Slide, Triconfort, Riva 1920, Poliform and Emu. Her education and work have marked the history of Italian design.
