Vittorio Zecchin

Vittorio Zecchin (1878-1947) was an Italian designer and artist famous for his beautiful glass creations. A leading representative of the Art Nouveau movement in Italy, he was well known for his search for a new artistic style that combined tradition and innovation. After an intense involvement in painting, he approached the art of glassmaking. His highly refined glassware did not go unnoticed: the Veronese vases, made for the famous Venini glass factory, are a perfect example of his craft.

 

The designer also worked as a teacher, collaborating with several professional institutes in Venice.

Designer Vittorio Zecchin left an everlasting mark on the history of Murano glass art.
Born in Murano, Vittorio Zecchin was the son of a Murano glass technician. He studied at the Academy of Fine Arts in Venice. In 1914 he took part in the 11th Biennale together with the painter Teodoro Wolf Ferrari, presenting some glass works made at the Barovier glass factory. From 1921 to 1925, he was art director of the company "Vetri Soffiati Muranesi Cappellin Venini & C.", becoming one of the leading players and innovators of Murano glass art.
