"A piece of furniture is like an invitation" said the designer Erik Jørgensen, and his thought appears more meaningful than ever when we design the lounge & bar area of the house: more than a traditional sitting area, the lounge area is intended for relaxation, in company or alone, and to taste the best bottles of our bar. The atmosphere is informal, quiet, with soft lighting that invites abandonment, but also with exclusive furnishings and accessories: in this area of the house everything must be impeccable and nothing must be overlooked. The furnishings must be comfortable, elegant and functional, discreet colors and materials of excellence, with very accurate finishes.

Comfortable seats with character

Oxchair by Erik Jørgensens

The seats are among the first elements to choose: the classic includes large and comfortable armchairs, but with character. And the Ox  chair by Hans Wegner  for  is perfect: sculptural, vaguely extravagant but not over the top, it is the right compromise between comfort and support, thanks to the backrest slightly tilted back. The important padded element is supported by the thin and discreet steel structure, according to the tradition of Northern European design, supporting elements and textile elements are quite distinct, and the armchair can be completed with an elegant footrest pouf.

A modern and functional bar cabinet

Bar cabinet by Nomon

Another fundamental element is the bar cabinet which must be elegant and functional, to have everything at hand. Aero  di Capod’opera (on the cover) is glamorous and captivating: closed is totally discreet, open is a world of crystal with the mirror, in the background of the interior, decorated with delicate floral motifs. The opening is flap, the interior is divided into four sections: two higher for bottles and two lower ones for glasses, with a drawer for accessories and a sliding tray. A delight for the eyes and a valid support for the lounge & bar area. An alternative for small spaces is the Nomon   bar cabinet : of great character and sculptural but discreet presence, it consists of a load-bearing element and two shelves equipped to accommodate bottles and glasses. Minimal and sinuous, it can be complementary to a real bar cabinet, but it can also be a valid option if we don't have much space available.

Light to create the atmosphere

Meltdown by Cappellini

When it comes to the "right atmosphere", lighting really makes the difference and in general it is better to avoid ceiling lights and instead opt for table or floor lights that create a more intimate and relaxed effect. But light is also, always, a decorative object, and the Meltdown  lamp by Johan Lindstén  for Cappellini  fits with casual elegance in the lounge & bar area. A work that combines refined design and craftsmanship, consisting of a central body and five / eight diffusers in mouth-blown and paste-dyed glass in surprising colors that generate sophisticated and soft lighting effects.

Stylish accessories that make the difference

Manhattan by Georg Jensen

The deepest elegance is found in the details and therefore in the accessories that we will use for the bar. Manhattan , is the collection of cocktail accessories designed by Georg Jensen  inspired by the atmosphere of the Great Gatsby: from the classic shaker to the ice box, through trays and cups of various sizes, all in mirror-polished steel. Finally, for a touch of creativity, the Ice Baby  bucket by Lorenza Bozzoli  for Editions Milano : in the lines it recalls the classic aluminum bucket, interpreting it in a sophisticated key, in marble with brass handle.
