Akari Table Lamp

Akari lamps table is a collection designed by Isamu Noguchi that belongs to the series Light Sculptures with over 100 models of handmade lamps made of rice paper. Since 1951 for Vitra. The Japanese word "akari" means brightness and light but also light weight. Isamu Noguchi said: "The light of Akari lights as sunlight that is filtered by a mulberry paper. The magic of the paper converts the cold electricity in the eternal light of the sun for its heat can pervade our premises during the night ". Original shapes and extravagant, table lamps Akari are made of rice paper, some with painted parts. Some models are equipped with end bamboo structure with steel wire. Supports steel wire coated.
