Patricia Urquiola was born in Oviedo in 1961. She attended the faculty of architecture in Madrid and graduated in 1989 after completing a thesis with Achille Castiglioni, studying at Milan Polytechinc. In Italy she started to collaborate with some of the most important designers and architects, such as Achille Castiglioni and Vico Magistretti. With a fresh and feminine touch, she signed items and collections for Alessi, B&B Italia, Flos, Kartell, Molteni, Moroso, De Padova, Driade, Emu, Salvatore Ferragamo, Foscarini, Gallotti & Radice, Glass Italia, Kvadrat, MDF Italy, Panasonic, Paola Lenti Rosenthal. She was awarded a number of international prizes, such as Wallpaper* Designer of the Year in 2016 and in 2015 she became Art Director for Cassina. Several of her projects are on display in the permanent collections of MoMA in New York and many other international museums.
