Kyoto is a sophisticated project by Gianfranco Frattini for Poltrona Frau. Coffee table made in extra light solid beech wood with solid Canaletto walnut inserts at the end of the boards of the top and legs. The wooden boards are connected with 45° joints that form a square pattern. All surfaces are treated with a protective transparent matt varnish. Slide-off counterpoise legs that can be positioned as desired. The Poltrona Frau logo and the designer’s signature are laser engraved on one of the faces of the leg supports.
Kyoto is a project that Frattini designed in 1974 and than Poltrona Frau decided with great pride to include into production in 2020 collection. Clearly inspired by Japan and an extraordinary skilful craftsmanship. In all projects of the architect reveals his passion for wood and creates this table with particular attention to detail and dove-tail joints. Kyoto is a great example of how the mastery of ideas find space in the impeccable realization of craftsmen who have a deep knowledge of the material. The absence of decorative elements is enhanced by the beauty of solid wood worked to perfection in a game of joints and full and empty effect.
The Kyoto table is part of the permanent collection of the Design Museum at the Milan Triennale.
