The unique, innovative and touching lighting design of the Arturo Álvarez brand comes from its founder’s extraordinary artistic sensitivity. Not just in the love for nature, nor the interest for the human relationships, but also curiosity and desire of experimentation constitute the primary sources of inspiration for the company’s production. For more than 20 years, it has been creating handcrafted lamps in a fascinating natural environment, near Santiago the Compostela, in the north-west of Spain. Here, everything influences the creative process: the Atlantic forest, with its lights and shadows effects, the river quietness and the indigenous histories. 

Arturo Álvarez, art director of the homonymous brand, is internationally famous for his conceptual approach to the lighting world. Its creations are luminous scenography, where fluid forms and light sources elegantly combine, narrating histories and communicating emotions to the viewer. In addition to the naturalistic inspiration, there is a tendency to geometrical abstraction alluding to the feminine world, more recently joined by new themes, focused on the human relationships. The aim is always the growth of human wealth, to be reached through the contemplation of beauty.

Style and personality characterize every single lamp, realized with common materials extrapolated from their context of use, reintroducing traditional techniques in a contemporary perspective. Incessant research and experimentation brought to the creation of SIMETECH®, a translucent innovative material, capable of creating different textures, awarded by Interior Design with the BEST OF YEAR 2004 prize. Arturo Álvarez’s projects, artworks of great creativity, appear in some of the most important museums all around the world. 

Original and involving creations like the Gea collection, representing the Mother Earth with its feminine curves, or the Fluo suspension lamps, made up with steel mesh enclosing a light point, received the Good Design Award respectively in 2008 and 2009. 

The futuristic wall lamp Guau, capable of directing the light in a specific direction or expanding its lighting power in the whole setting, received the Red Dot prize in 2010.  

The Pili collection evocates charm and mystery. Light filters through harmonic shapes, created by a unique entwined steel wire.

Nature inspires the Ura collection, with its delicate folds creating harmonic volumes and emanating a sense of lightness. 

The Onn suspension and ceiling lamps, with their unusual and dynamic shapes, are able to evoke relaxing marine atmospheres. 

Elegant lines and organic shapes, inspired to the wonderful Barrier Reef. The Coral collection of suspension lamps is perfect for illuminating any kind of space. 

A lights and shadows dance: precisely this is Ballet. The collection realized with the extraordinary flexible SIMETECH®, reproduces fluid and natural shapes communicating an idea of movement depending on the point of view. An idea of plastic light, difficult to imitate.
