Jewel house: metal surfaces in the foreground
We shed light on metals, and bring the structural elements in sight to make the furniture more interesting and precious, but also to reveal the design accuracy that determines it. In fact, metals are almost always present in the structure of furnishings and accessories, but they are not always visible. Today the trend brings them back to the surface and clearly visible, recognizing their charm and decorative power. And here the metal stands out, sometimes as a small detail, sometimes as a predominant material and the result is always impressive, interesting because it gives the environment an immediately more refined and elegant style. Whether it is a large lamp, a seat or even a simple accessory, it will immediately grab attention and become the focal point and strength of the decoration project.

Poetic and full of grace, the Silver 96 lamp contains all the talent of Paola Navone who knows how to express the design competence that distinguishes her in a lively and accurate way. In the image, in particular, we see the hammered brass version: and immediately we imagine it floating in the center of the living area, or on the dining table, or again, in an entrance of character. Essential but with great stage presence.

The Iko armchair by Rodolfo Dordoni is precious for its versatility: its structure is welcoming, its appearance is refined but informal and in the version with the gold tubular it takes on a particularly refined connotation. We imagine it in an elegant conversation corner, where the combination of the metal of the structure with the leather of the seat and backrest, stands out for its beauty and comfort.

Jaime Hayon reinterprets the classic chamber candle holder as only he can do: stylizing it to the extreme, abstracting its characteristic lines and then redesigning it in a creative, contemporary way and with a touch of glamor given by the luster of the metal used to make it. A jewel accessory to be used as a table centerpiece, but also to characterize, for example, a coffee table.

We remain in the field of accessories to discover the full range of decorative effects of the Marlene mirror by Baxter, twice shining: the mirroring surface generates games of reflections and amplifies the perception of space, while the satin brass frame gives it an important and almost retro style . The extra detail? The external covering of the frame itself is in leather.

On the cover, the image of the Twelve tables designed by Massimo Castagna for Gallotti & Radice shows us that one should not be afraid of mixing metals with other materials. The tables, in fact, are extremely versatile and go perfectly with both the marble and the textile elements with which they are placed side by side. A precious feature of the metals that characterize the environment but leave us free to experiment with different colors and textures.

Furniture, lights, accessories but also pieces of art. Like Marc Caelenberghe's Bullish Star sculpture for Gardeco, 39 cm wide and 19 cm high, has the perfect dimensions to give an interesting and suggestive tone to the environment. Inspired by the muscular power of a bull's back, it assimilates it to a man's back, taking on a very high symbolic and aesthetic value.

We conclude with a real icon: the Atollo lamp designed by Vico Magistretti in 1977 is still an example of versatility and elegance, not surprisingly, in 1979 he won the Compasso d'Oro and was included in the Moma collection of New York. In the bronze satin finish (in the image) it is even more sought after and less obvious.
