The Ville Savoye in Poissy, close to Paris, built between 1928 and 1929 and for the time a real revolution, a compendium of the five principles that Le Corbusier had presented in one of the fundamental texts for Modernism, Towards an architecture (1923).

The composition is simple, geometric, and makes use of the new possibilities offered by the use of reinforced concrete, architect summarized in five principles:

- The stilts, that the high and thin pillars supporting the building and isolate it from the soil and moisture, creating additional space;- The toit terrasse, the roof-garden, in replacement of pitched roofs;- The plan libre, the free building plan from the old load-bearing walls, made possible by an inner structure in reinforced concrete;- The façade libre, free from structural constraints- La fenêtre en longueur, or strip window, which cuts the facade in length, making the interior bright and allowing a more direct contact with the outside.

Architecture is the learned game, correct and magnificent, of forms assembled in the light.(Le Corbusier)

With the Unité d'Habitation in Marseille, built between 1947 and 1952, Le Corbusier went further, arriving to design an entire neighborhood within a single complex that can accommodate up to 1,600 people, also called Cité Radieuse ( "radiant city") because it is exposed to the sun is to the west is east.
