To fully understand the latest collections of  Antonio Lupi it is necessary to open a parenthesis on its history. The company was born in 1932 when Antonio Lupi (only 18 years old) founded it as a production of crystals and glass for furnishing, sanctioning the feeling with these materials. The glasses became mirrors and the mirrors would also become bathroom accessories, until 1969, when the company rides the trend of the total bathroom look with a new factory. In 1983, the first participation of Antonio Lupi at Cersaie, the bathroom furniture fair in Bologna. In 1991 the first ceramic collection and in 2002 the first in Corian®. Glass, crystal, ceramics, Corian®: this historical overview tells the journey through the materials of Antonio Lupi, the attention and care, the search for those best suited to meet the taste of the moment, and to satisfy the creativity that in recent years entered the bathroom furnishing sector with decision. The functional environment par excellence has become more beautiful than ever and the classic white ceramic, with a basic design, has given way to experimentation with colors, shapes and materials. Functionality has not been placed in a corner, but simply declined in a more refined way, and here are sculpture washbasins, an authentic charm for the eyes.

Opale by Antonio Lupi Design

Vitreo by Antonio Lupi

Opal and Vitreous: the Cristalmood

Examples are the Opale collection, designed by  Carlo Colombo and Andrea Lupi, is the evolution of the Albume collection, which inaugurated the use of Cristalmood, a resin created by Antonio Lupi, which is dyed in the mold. Once removed from the mold, the sink is finished by hand. After the resin has dried, it is sanded and polished manually, and then coated with a protective fixative. There is therefore an important artisan component in the production process and this makes each piece different from the others and the special Cristalmood collections. Opale represents one of the last examples: its name refers to the visual effect of some precious stones and is available in the 10 Cristalmood colors, also combined with the veins of white Carrara marble and black marquina. In addition to the round shape, the washbasin is also available in the sculptural decagonal shape, in the countertop version, or with a column, circular or prismatic. In Cristalmood is also the Vitreo collection, also by Carlo Colombo and Andrea Lupi. In this case, the sink and the column are one thing, a single block of Cristalmood with an impressive decagonal shape. Opal and Vitreo are innovative in materials and design and are perfect for those who want to give the bathroom a touch of sophistication and charm, thanks to the play of color and transparency of this special resin.

Gessati by Antonio Lupi

Gessati: Carrara marble

The search for materials is a theme that also returns in another new collection: Gessati by Gum Design. This time it is a hyper traditional, but timeless material, Carrara marble, which Gum Design has interpreted in a contemporary key, for its first collection designed for Antonio Lupi. The name is the story of the inspiration of the project: it is in fact a collection of washbasins characterized by the pattern of parallel lines typical of pinstriped fabrics. An ancient material, managed with innovative planning: the pinstriped effect is obtained, in fact, by gluing with a colored resin, marble strips of 1 or 2 centimeters. The result is an alternation of marble and resin made homogeneous by a very accurate polishing. Gessati countertop basins are available in round, oval or square shape.
