I firmly believe that curiosity, courage and intuition are key components for Gubi’s current success. To me design is all about discovering gems and following your instincts. It involves constant travelling – physically and mentally, searching and finding long-lost remnants from the past as well as discovering contemporary, cutting-edge designs from new designers and artists on the horizon.  – Jacob Gubi, CCO

Gubi has always dedicated to explore the world of design as a treasures hunter who constantly moves in search of hidden wealth. The brand aims to bring to light icons from the past and shape objects destined to remain in the history. Some collections were born from these eclectic and audacious journeys with an expertise of passion, curiosity and courage. In Gubi’s creations the borders between past and future blur to give voice to a multiform inspiration.

The universe of Gubi is full of stories about the Scandinavian Realism and Symbolism of the 19th century, as well as Chinese Art Deco. It’s a triumph of simple design, an exciting aesthetics that expresses itself through fascinating shapes, original materials and innovative techniques. The company, founded in 1967 by Gubi and Lisbeth Olsen, at the beginning dealt with textiles and furniture trading, among them also Gubi’s creations.

Oriental fabrics, precious light shades, hot golden colours, colourful glass and wood: Gubi’s world is a variegated container in which great designers have left an everlasting track with their art.

The Beetle and Masculo chairs are some of the most iconic product of Gubi. Realized by designer duo GramFratesi, they stand out for modern and ergonomic lines. With an exclusive design structure the Beetle chair finds in nature its source of inspiration. While the Masculo chair combines beauty and comfort, a perfect encounter between Danish design and Italian tradition.

Gubi paid homage to Gio Ponti with a collection that include the Randaccio wall mirror. All the items show an old fascination and maintain their functional and innovative nature.

The Coco chair is a future icon, realized by the OEO studio. Its harmonious and versatile design joins with a thin metal structure and upholstered cushion, covered by the Kvadrat fabrics.

Also in the field of lighting design, Gubi chooses innovative lights with a sophisticated design like the Turbo Pendant suspension lamp, signed by Louis Weisdorf. A timeless icon, created in 1965,  that stands out for its dynamic and dizzy shapes. Glowing globe, in simple rice paper, evokes the distant oriental atmospheres.

An essential design lamp, but functional and elegant: Grasshopper was designed by the designer Greta Grossman and produced in 1947. It is an extraordinary everlasting item, a floor lamp, realized in curved aluminium with three steel legs.

Funny and light shapes characterize the PD-4 table lamp, designed by Barba Corsini e Joaquim Ruiz Millet. It belongs to the Pedrera collection by Gubi: a colourful cylinder made of metal sheet covered with holes. The object reinvents the Pedrera lamp, realized by Antoni Gaudì.
