Zanat Mati Chair

Mati is a wooden chair with seat covered in leather, designed by Sebastian Herkner for the Zanat brand. Made with structure in oak, maple, ash and walnut. Leather cushion: black or brown.

The design inspiration for Mati concerns the search for safety. This comfortable chair helps to create a pleasant atmosphere. Thus, the name Mati (meaning mother in archaic Bosnian, Croatian and Serbian) was chosen to symbolize the maternal comfort of the chair seat. Mati features a gracefully curved armrest that wraps around a raised backrest. Another design feature is the chair legs, curved on the inside, but cut flat and hand carved on the outside. The carving pattern was inspired by the microscopic view of the cellular structure of wood, allowing the human eye to admire the material and appreciate that it comes from a living organism, which underlines the importance of sustainability. Mati is both robust and unexpectedly light.
