Eames Plastic Chair Collection
The collection of chairs and armchairs signed by Mr and Mrs Eames debuted in 1948, at the "Low-Cost Furniture Design" competition organized by the Museum of Modern Art. From this moment on, the great success of Vistra’s Plastic Chairs has never been stipped.
After numerous studies on the material to be used, the polypropylene has achieved the initial goal of Charles and Ray Eames: create a comfortable seat that embrace human forms and allow an industrial mass production and available to all. Today, thanks to the many colors of the shells and tissue for padding provided by Vitra, everyone can create their own Plastic Chair and combine shapes and shades following their own style.
