Kettal VDL Pavilion

VDL Pavilion is a refined collection of free-standing pergolas designed by Dion & Richard Neutra for the Kettal brand. VDL Pavilion includes the Penthouse and Gazebo models, made of aluminum. Both structures can be customized with a wide range of finishes and optional extras. Cedarwood trim. Waterproof translucent glass.

Austrian architect Richard Neutra began his career in the United States, where he built a space dedicated to himself, his family, and his profession in 1932. Over the years the Penthouse became a meeting place for architects and cultural figures. In 1963 the original structure was devastated by fire; however, the incident inspired Dion and Richard Neutra to renovate the building, making architectural changes that are still in use today.

Respect for traditional craftsmanship, modern technology, and all of Kettal's know-how come together to create VDL Pavilions. Predominantly horizontal lines, emphasized by wooden slats running through the structure, were inspired by Japanese architecture. The internal space is flexible and transferable, without a fixed function. The use of the rooms varies throughout the day and during the seasons. The entire technological system was upgraded with an automated smart home system to control air conditioning and heating, lighting, and security.
