The iconic Capitol Complex armchair, designed for Le Corbusier's building of the same name in Chandigarh, is Cassina's tribute to the work of Pierre Jeanneret. A work of high carpentry that contains a design with timeless geometries.

The Cassina re-edition of the historic Capitol Complex armchair follows the compositional scheme of the characteristic elements of this design piece. The inverted "V" supports, together with the connection crosspieces and the final part of the junction of the armrests with the backrest, are in exposed wood. The padding of the armrest wraps it almost completely, drawing a geometric shape that together with the seat and back cushions gives an idea of immediate comfort, not separated from elegance and simplicity. Capitol Complex, thanks to its timeless style and design, is the armchair that adapts to any context, from private homes to contract projects for offices, lounge areas or lobbies.

Pierre Jeanneret is a milestone in the history of architecture and design, one of the ingenious minds behind the Capitol Complex, a majestic architectural work built in Chandigarh, India, in 1951. Pierre was given the task to project the interior design and the furniture for the building with his cousin Le Corbusier. Outcome of his refined genius was an incredible collection of iconic creations, marked by the special inverted “V” sidebars. The imponent, edgy collection of chairs, armchairs, tables is made of indian cane and Vienna straw weavings. Among the most acclaimed products, the woven Chandigarh Chair, a sophisticated, and yet impactful furniture element made of solid wood.
