Gubi 1967 Suspension Lamp Designed by Paavo Tynell

1967 is an iconic suspension lamp designed by renowned designer Paavo Tynell and produced by the famous brand Gubi. 1967 is a lamp that features a shade made of canvas, a fabric cord, and brass details.

In the 1967 lamp, in both styles, there is a central core that holds the shade in place, while a polished brass rosette sits atop the wire, connecting the light to the ceiling. Below the bulb, a fabric shade modulates the light, and below that, a decorative brass detail gives each lamp a touch of character and subtly influences the play of light it generates. Paavo Tynell (1890-1973) was an industrial designer, known as the great pioneer of Finnish lighting design and affectionately nicknamed "the man who enlightened Finland." Throughout 2023, GUBI is exploring and celebrating Paavo Tynell's legacy with the launch of seven masterpieces. This has allowed the design of the original pieces to be brought back to life in all their power. The range extension of the Tynell collection also includes bamboo as a lampshade option, a more sustainable and faster-growing choice than the poplar wood originally chosen by the designer for these products.
