The sideboard Alterego was created by the designer Giacomo Moor for the brand Acerbis. A pair of vertical sideboards that can be used individually or combined thanks to their different composition. The transparent methacrylate base creates a suspension effect and makes the full-height sliding door appear as a single supporting element, at first glance fixed. The visual gap between the monolithic main body, consisting of two hinged doors, and the sliding panel is emphasised by the use of contrasting materials or finishes. Finishes: Container and hinged doors in Swamp Oak essence with Nikel-15 brushed metal lacquer finish, or glossy lacquer.
Strong identities in their asymmetry: harmonious together, but with independent potential. The two upright sideboards Alterego are the result of a handcrafted vision that creates a partnership between the wood essences and the hand-brushed metal-effect finish. Two distinct sideboards that differ in the layout of the doors with the dual system of sliding and hinged opening, finding unity in the sculptural forms and the suspended effect of the structure: a dreamlike sensation deceives the eye with the full-height vertical door, which is not a fixed support element, composed instead of the transparent methacrylate base. The visual gap between the monolithic main body, composed of two doors with hinged opening, and the sliding panel is emphasised by the use of different materials: wood or lacquer for the cabinet, brushed metal effect for the door. Two determined, solid characters that embrace the collection's idea of structural lightness. The precious oak wood is obtained from logs extracted from the ground where they have remained protected under layers of clay for several hundred years. The anaerobic environment inhibited the development of microorganisms, preventing their inexorable process of slow degradation. On the contrary, over time elements were transformed and others were added: mineral salts combined with those present in the wood matrix, gradually transforming the organic state. A long and unrepeatable natural process that gives wood unique and precious material effects, with surprising colours and textures.
With a focus on form, function, and material integrity, Giacomo Moor has developed a design language that begins with wood and evolves through precision and craft. Both designer and maker, he leads a multidisciplinary studio where carpenters, architects, and designers collaborate closely on every stage of the process. His portfolio includes pieces created for leading brands such as Acerbis, Living Divani, and Cappellini, each reflecting his measured approach and distinctive material sensibility.
Guarding a 150-year history, Acerbis is one of the most enduring furniture brands in Italian design. An endless search for modernity has allowed the creation of products with an incredibly innovative identity. Acerbis furniture stands out for its elegance: from sofas to chairs, from tables and sideboards to accessories.
