Flos Arco LED Floor Lamp Designed by Achille & Pier Giacomo Castiglioni

Arco LED is the LED-source evolution of the iconic Arco Flos lamp, designed in 1962 by Achille and Pier Giacomo Castiglioni: the first industrial design product protected by copyright, featured in the MoMA and Triennale collections and awarded the 2020 Compasso d’Oro for Lifetime Achievement.

Inspired by the silhouette of a street lamp, the Arco light by Flos brings illumination from above without relying on the ceiling: a marble base that anchors it, an adjustable arch, a suspended reflector. In 2012, celebrating both Arco’s fiftieth anniversary and Flos’s own, the Flos Arco LED version made its debut, updating the light source while preserving the original form.

The base of the Arco floor lamp by Flos is crafted from solid Carrara white marble; the telescopic stainless-steel stem adjusts the extension, and the adjustable aluminium reflector directs the light with precision. Thanks to the dimmer, the intensity is controlled with a single button, shifting smoothly from full to softer light and storing the last setting used.

In a living room, over a dining table or in a professional setting, Arco LED becomes a natural focal point. It illuminates from above without structural installation, defining the space with a broad yet measured gesture. The base, equipped with a through-hole, allows two people to move it safely using a pole, protecting delicate floors and surfaces.

Arco is ideally positioned so that its arch naturally follows the line of the table or sofa, elegantly defining the area of use. In smaller spaces it pairs well with light furnishings and soft colours, while in larger interiors Arco creates a sophisticated dialogue with other Flos Arco LED elements and complementary lighting pieces. The LED version highlights material surfaces such as marble, wood and satin-finished metal, enhancing their depth within the space.
