Secolo Asawa Sofa Designed by Artefatto Design Studio

The Asawa sofa, designed by Artefatto Design Studio for the brand Secolo, explores the relationship between form and space. Two solid wood elements form the structural base, from which a continuous and enveloping backrest rises, shaped as if it had grown naturally from the ground. This organic element wraps around the seat, creating a unified and uninterrupted volume. The gently curved seat prevents the sofa from being placed against a wall, keeping it slightly detached and allowing it to open up to the room from all sides. This positioning reinforces the piece’s central role in the environment and suggests a non-hierarchical use of space. Asawa is available in three different seat sizes and is accompanied by a lounge version sharing the same principles. The project can be configured with a wide range of fabric or leather upholsteries and wood finishes, making it adaptable to various interior settings. Artefatto’s approach is evident in the design of a self-contained presence that occupies space without dominating it.
