Athos '12 Extendable Table

Designed by Paolo Piva for B&B Italia, Athos has a MDF wood fibre panel which can be oak veneered or satin painted and a frame in anodized aluminium extrusions with plastic material tools.

Athos was firstly created in 2005 and soon became synonymus of elegance and attention to detail. Athos 2012 is characterised by a softer appearance. The V-shaped metal frame supports a thick tp that is softened by rounded edges created with a complex milling procedure that maintains a uniform grain on the entire surface. In this extendable version, Athos ’12 goes from 225 cm to 320 cm and can seat up to twelve people by exploiting a concealed mechanism.

Designer and architect Paolo Piva wrote one of the most important chapters in the history of Italian contemporary design. He was born in Adria on the 13th March 1950 and studied architecture in Venice. Vienna and Venice represented two cornerstones for his artistic career and provided an important support for his professional development. He became full professor at the Academy of Fine Arts of Vienna, combining his academic career with his commitment to the world of architecture and design.
