Designed by Paolo Piva for B&B Italia, Athos 2012 has a particle board top with solid wood parts and an oak veneered or satin varnished finish, a support structure of drawn chrome-plated steel and painted sheet steel.

A bestseller table, after its debut in 2005 it became synonymous with class, elegance, attention to detail and patient, calibrated design work on shapes and materials. Compared to that first version, Athos 2012 has a softer appearance, due to the introduction of modulated radii at the corners, the result of a complex milling operation, thanks to which the grain maintains uniformity over the entire surface.

Designer and architect Paolo Piva wrote one of the most important chapters in the history of Italian contemporary design. He was born in Adria on the 13th March 1950 and studied architecture in Venice. Vienna and Venice represented two cornerstones for his artistic career and provided an important support for his professional development. He became full professor at the Academy of Fine Arts of Vienna, combining his academic career with his commitment to the world of architecture and design.
