Averno Rug is part of Jan Kath's Spectrum collection, a carpet series that investigates all variations of light refraction.

Averno Rug bears the name of a lake in Campania, anciently considered the gateway to the underworld. Jan Kath draws on its ancestral fascination in the reflections that are mirrored on the surface of the water, and graphically elaborates bundles of colour that blend into each other suggesting the warm hues of sunset in Southern Italy. The abstract subject matter and colourful shades make Averno Tappeto a perfect complement to liven up a contemporary setting.
