Basket is a furniture collection designed by Joe Colombo for the Gubi brand. The series comprises a three-seater sofa, a two-seater sofa, and a lounge chair, all sharing the same structure. Each element now consists of a steel skeleton covered with a hand-woven rattan skin.

The Basket collection made its debut at the end of the 1960s; at that time, Joe Colombo designed this furniture with different materials than today, but its distinctive feature was already well established. The Danish company has decided to revive the design icons of the last century, staying true to the original idea, a homage to the classic hand-weaving technique used in rattan basketry. Organic lines, a modernist aesthetic, and a highly innovative approach to the chosen material, Colombo focused on these features to increase the appeal of this furniture line. The design demonstrates the balance between technique and material, combining traditional craftsmanship methods and one of the oldest known materials: a perfect marriage of craft and industry. Basket seats are completed with soft rounded cushions on the seat and back, and cylindrical cushions that wrap around the sides.
