Gubi Bistra Dining Armchair Designed by Studio AMDL CIRCLE

The Bistra collection, created by Milan-based studio AMDL CIRCLE founded by Michele De Lucchi for Gubi, reinterprets the steam-bent rattan bistro chair, an icon of early 20th-century European design. The collaboration between the two brands combines artisanal expertise and formal research, transforming a historic archetype into a set of furnishings with a contemporary character.

The range includes a dining armchair, a lounge chair, and a three-legged stool. Each piece is built around three structural rattan elements: the backrest, the armrests, and the double fork forming the legs, with tone-on-tone bindings that reference tradition. Fluid proportions and a lightweight profile give the collection a natural elegance, adaptable to both formal and informal settings.

The exclusive Reales Pattern upholstery, designed by AMDL CIRCLE and produced in Italy in 100% cotton, draws inspiration from the botanical motifs of the Sala delle Asse in Milan’s Sforza Castle. Three colorways – orange and green, grey on olive green, beige on beige – match the natural, black, or olive-green rattan finishes, creating a coherent and refined whole.
