Foscarini Bit 4 Wall Lamp Designed by Ferruccio Laviani

A large central screw, a glass of organic form, a metal frame: few elements define the Bit 4 wall lamp, designed by Ferruccio Laviani for Foscarini in 1993. Like every model in the Bit collection, it is a letter of an alphabet made to be combined.

The glass is painted and fastened to the structure with a decorative glass-lock, which remains in view and marks its centre decisively. Frame and wall canopy are in metal with an epoxy powder finish, designed to support the form without drawing attention away from it. In a living area, an office or a public venue, the Bit 4 wall lamp stands out for its fluid contour and the graphic quality of its profile.

A reflected and diffused light spreads across the wall around the diffuser, while the glass holds back part of the glow and lights up in turn. The electrical side is linear: a transparent cable, a plug, an on/off switch. The different shapes of the family, set side by side, allow endless wall compositions to be built, and the Bit 4 enters them as a tile able to change the rhythm of the whole.
