Designed by the visionary Philippe Starck for Cassina, the Somewhere El-S collection celebrates the elegance of tailoring. Drawing from the world of haute couture, Starck creates a series of leather furnishings that recall the opulence of high-end luggage and the allure of meticulously wrapped gifts. The collection's signature element is the artisanal fastening, a nod to traditional saddlery, enriched with metallic accents. The ensemble is complemented by a sophisticated rug.
To mark thirty years of collaboration with Cassina, Philippe Starck designs Somewhere El-S, a collection that transforms the archetype of travel into sculptural seating. The series includes an armchair, daybed, and pouf—each inspired by luggage and objects in transit, reinterpreted with refined, saddle-like detailing. Compact forms, carefully balanced proportions, and sartorial craftsmanship define this nomadic family of seats, designed to inhabit space with ease and elegance.
Somewhere El-S achieves a thoughtful balance between comfort, design, and environmental responsibility. The seats feature variable-density polyurethane padding made with bio-based polyols and recycled PET fiber, paired with exclusive textiles or richly grained leather. Each piece is fully disassemblable for ease of recycling. Upholstery options include thick leather in three shades, monochrome fabric in natural or black, and a distinctive ethnic-inspired pattern designed by Starck himself.
