Memphis is design, history, revolution. The company owns Memphis-Milano, Meta-Memphis and Post Design, three brands that belong to three different moments in Memphis' history. Founded in 1981 by Ettore Sottsass and a group of designers and architects, Memphis revolutionized the concept of living through furniture, lamps and accessories that mix elegance and kitsch, in dialogue with absurd and irrational shapes. Memphis' catalogue is constantly growing, ranging from historical collection to new trends and arrivals.

Thanks to its liberating spirit, Memphis has always been a source of inspiration for young designers.

Memphis believes that design should be understood as a means of communication and not as an expression of elitist art.
The company is run by Alberto Bianchi Albrici and still produces the iconic collections from the '80s in unlimited series. Memphis uses the same materials and processes for each product, regardless of the year of production, to preserve the inner original value. The true peculiarity of Memphis design is the introduction of the “pleasure of play” into the rational language of industrial production, through lamps, rugs, vases and accessories in plastic laminates, combined with patterns that simulate precious materials.
