Taiwan-Lantern expresses the artisanalheritage of Taiwan through light, preserving centuries-old knowledge and memory. Celebrating the evolution of traditional lantern making, the brand creates evocative designs that tell stories and stir emotions. From the Heritage to the Plum series, each lamp is crafted by hand using natural materials like Makino bamboo and walnut wood—an authentic blend of sustainability, craftsmanship, and cultural tradition.
Founded in Amsterdam in 2013 by Pei-Ching Hsiao, Taiwan-Lantern collaborates with the last traditional lantern factory in Taiwan and a network of skilled local artisans. The studio revives and reinterprets age-old techniques—ceramics, plant-based dyeing, bamboo weaving, and metalworking—through a contemporary design lens. Light becomes a symbol of identity and cultural memory. Using 95% locally sourced, natural materials, the brand embodies a deep commitment to sustainability.
