Extraordinary objects for daily use: Tom Dixon signs innovative collections entirely produced in Europe
Many of Tom Dixon's projects start from an almost sensorial relationship with metals. The designer made his debut in the 1980s, selling scrap-metal assemblages to his friends. The iconic Beat family of lamps is distinguished by the use of hand-drawn and hammered bronze; the new Spring lamps have a fascinating spiral-shaped steel structure; even the polycarbonate shell of the famous Mirror Ball series is treated with a chrome or gold finish, to mirror the surrounding environment.
