With its bentwood furniture, TON is synonymous with history, design and high quality. The Czech company, in its Bystřice pod Hostýnem headquarter, creates chairs, armchairs, tables, household furniture and accessories following the traditional wood bending techniques it has been passing on since 1861. From the renowned Merano hardwood chairs, to the innovative Split collection, outcome of manual wood bending in opposing directions, Ton draws a continuous line from new trends to great successes.
Ton is among the European companies that have inherited their history and tradition from the founder Michael Thonet and his five children. Ton’s central office is surrounded by beech forests and was established in 1861 in a strategic location that could grant sufficient quantities of wood in short time, to save on transport costs and labor. After changing name several times, in 1953 the brand was called TON, short for Továrna Ohýbaného Nábytku “bent furniture factory”.
