Catifa Carta Chair by Arper was presented at the Salone del Mobile 2024 in its most sustainable guise. Designed in 2001 by designers Lievore Altherr Molina, it was revived in a more environmentally friendly and lightweight version whose shell is made of a paper-like material.

Catifa Carta Chair features a re-designed shell made of PaperShell, a revolutionary material, composed of wood waste, that gives the necessary strength and comfort to the chair's now iconic bi-curved silhouette. A unique innovation, PaperShell drastically reduces the environmental impact of Catifa Carta, acting also as a material, like trees, capable of capturing CO2. In fact, at the end of its life cycle, the material can be reduced to charcoal, a substance that retains the carbon dioxide captured during earlier life stages. The comfort, practicality, and elegance of Catifa's timeless style remains unchanged and true to the original design, while also ensuring long life and durability.
