Achille Castiglioni
Achille Castiglioni, an unforgettable name in the history of Italian design. Designer, architect and son of the famous sculptor Giannino, he incorporated in his works the "plastic" approach of his father. His life was also shaped by the collaboration with his brother, Pier Giacomo. Experimenting with forms, techniques and materials, the Castiglioni brothers created the iconic Snoopy, Taccia, Toio and Arco lamps for Flos, the Mezzadro stool for Zanotta and the Sanluca armchair for Poltrona Frau.
In 2011, the Achille Castiglioni Foundation was formed in his honor to continue his articulate archive work.

According to the designer, experience does not give certainty, but rather increases the possibility of making mistakes: the secret is to start from scratch each time, with humility and patience.
Born in Milan in 1918, he graduated in architecture and devoted himself to industrial experimentation with his brothers Livio and Pier Giacomo, with whom he worked closely until 1968. His extraordinary ability to combine expressiveness and practicality through ironic and functional design made him a legend in both design and architecture. He was a university professor, one of the founders of ADI, and he boasted successful collaborations and 9 Compasso d'Oro awards. He passed away in 2002.
