Aldo Bakker’s design challenges daily perceptions, turning the relationship between man and object into a surprise: the latter determines the rules of this interaction. Each piece, from the renowned Console Table to the Mahogany stool conceived for Karakter, up to the bowls and the table accessories, is a pure exploration of the senses. It is the outcome of the exquisite use of shape, material and colour that makes sensuous and seductive all Bakker’s creations: ‘objects fatales’.
Aldo Bakker was born in the Netherlands in 1971. As an autodidact he studied the work of the most extravagant modern artists: from composer Luigi Nono and painter Giorgio Morandi to writer JM Coetzee and architect Carlo Scarpa. His elegant and unusual pieces are not inanimate objects since they are conceived as individual characters that establish a connection with their users and make them their fellow travellers.
