Recognized today as of the masters of Organic Modernism thanks to his innovative architectural thinking, Alvar Aalto was born in 1898 and after turning 30 he began designing furnishings, experimenting with bending wood. In 1935 he founded the design brand Artek with his wife Aino and a group of art lovers, aiming to combine art and industrial techniques to promote a modern culture of living.Â
