Andreé Putman

Designer Andrée Putman was born in Paris in 1925. Having started with a career in music, she approached design by collaborating with magazines such as Elle and with advertising agencies. In 1978 she founded Écart, an interior design and product design studio, becoming known for the refined harmony of its lines. The designer, in imagining objects, refused to redesign pieces that had been perfectly designed by others in the past. One of her famous pieces is the Oceano wardrobe trunk made for the renowned Poltrona Frau brand.
