Angelo Mangiarotti (1921-2012) was an architect, designer and sculptor, one of the greatest italian masters able to export their projectual ideas and philosophy. Highly valued for his approach to materials, Angelo Mangiarotti differs from the others for his ability to enhance the sensual aspect of his creations. Tables, chairs, furnishing accessories, lamps and design pieces: each one is characterized by a formal, intuitive and highly expressive sensitivity.
Born in Milan, he graduated in Architecture at the Politecnico in the same city. Between 1953 and 1954, he operated in the US attending the competition for the Chicago “LOOP”, where he met some of the leading figures of that time like Frank Lloyd Wright, Walter Gropius, Mies van der Rohe and Konrad Wachsmann. Later he started an intense period of academic activity as a visitor for Italian universities and abroad. In 1989 he created the Mangiarotti & Associates Office in Tokyo.
