Catharina Lorenz
German designer based in Milan, Catharina Lorenz blends Nordic precision with Italian sensibility in an essential, contemporary language. After experience in international studios and collaboration with Sottsass Associati, she co-founded Lorenz+Kaz with Steffen Kaz in 2001. The studio is recognised for projects spanning furniture, interiors and art direction for international brands, including the Sit chair for Zeitraum.
Born in Munich, Catharina Lorenz studied industrial design at the University of Applied Sciences in Darmstadt. After professional experiences in London and Germany, she moved to Milan in 1995, where she worked with Ettore Sottsass before founding her own studio in 2000. With Lorenz+Kaz, she has developed a design approach combining functionality, elegance and material research. She has received awards such as the Red Dot Best of the Best and teaches through lectures and workshops worldwide.
