The architect and designer Cini Boeri (1924-2020), stage name Maria Cristina Mariani Dameno, is considered one of the most significant and influential female personalities in the second post-war period design. On the architectural front, her thinking focuses on the space functionality and the psychological relationship between man and his environment. In the field of industrial design, Cini Boeri has realized memorable furniture and furnishings such as the Strips sofa, the Pecorelle armchair and the Ben Ben curved sofa for Arflex, the Bebop sofa for Poltrona Frau and the Lunario table for Knoll.
Born in Milan on June, 19th 1924, she graduated from the Milan Polytechnic in 1951, the university where one day she would teach at the Faculty of Architecture. A pupil of Giò Ponti, she began a long partnership with Marco Zanuso and started her own professional career in 1963, dealing with civil architecture and industrial design. She designed houses, offices, museum set-ups and shops in Italy and abroad, and won numerous international awards including the prestigious Compasso d'Oro in 1979. She will die on 9 September 2020.
