Originally from Burkina Faso and founder of the Kéré Architecture studio, the architect and designer Diébédo Francis Kéré is known for his essential, intelligent architecture, where the involvement of local communities becomes an active project for the improvement of living conditions. Kéré is aware that architecture is not about the object but the goal, not the product but the process. Among his most iconic works is the Ziba solid cedar wood stool designed for Riva 1920.
Born in the village of Gando in 1965, Diébédo Francis Kéré is the winner of the Pritzker Prize 2022, the highest international award in the architecture sector. His architecture was judged by Mario Botta to be "essential and intelligent .." Kéré had the honour of becoming a member of the Royal Institute of British Architects and the American Institute of Architects. He taught at the Harvard Graduate School of Design and the Academy of Architecture of Mendrisio in Switzerland, receiving numerous awards.
