Giancarlo Piretti
Industrial and interior designer Giancarlo Piretti was born in 1940 in Bologna. In the 1960s Piretti joined the Italian design firm Castelli as an interior designer. In those years, Piretti obtained numerous industrial patents for his designs and was made famous by the Plia chair for Castelli, in which the concept of the folding chair and his study on the 3-disc pivot represent a real revolution. His design influence is famous in the E-motion polypropylene chair made for the Segis brand.
