Paolo Rizzatto
Technical elegance and formal precision define the work of Paolo Rizzatto, a leading figure in Italian design. Renowned for the 265 lamp, created in 1973 for Flos, Rizzatto explores light as an architectural, mobile, and essential element. With Luceplan, he designed the Costanza series—now a symbol of the balance between function and poetry. His lighting pieces transcend trends and decades, preserving the expressive strength of their design. Alongside lighting, his work also spans furniture and accessories.
Born in Milan in 1941, Rizzatto graduated in architecture from the Politecnico di Milano and, in 1978, co-founded Luceplan with Riccardo Sarfatti. From Flos and Ghidini 1961 to Kartell, Poltrona Frau and Serralunga, his approach to both lighting and furniture is marked by consistency and formal rigor. The recipient of numerous awards, including the Compasso d’Oro, Rizzatto’s work is featured in the permanent collections of major international museums and foundations.
